The happi as the Chef Jacket Hakamagoshi in origin was a short jacket worn by artisans and that used to carry the name or symbol of the employer for whom they worked. However, nowadays, it´s more like a Chef's Jacket, which usually carries the character of matsuri on the back, which means "festival", and which changes color depending on the company or neighborhood. It´s also usually carried by shop assistants, especially if they´re on the street promoting the establishment or working as a claimant.
